Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the school year begins, we would like to share information about the process for students who require an essential course change to their timetable.
Students seeking an essential course change must sign up in person at the Guidance Office counter during break time, before school, or after school. Requests will not be accepted by email, Microsoft Teams, or telephone. Students must sign up between September 10 and September 14.
Essential course changes may be considered for the following reasons:
- Changing from French Immersion to the English program
- A change in post-secondary plans
- Missing a required prerequisite course
- The student has previously completed the course
- A hole in the student’s schedule
Please note that course changes cannot be made for the following reasons:
- Preference for a different time of day
- Preference for a different teacher
- Wanting to be in classes with friends
- Wanting to change an elective course https://nbed-my.sharepoint.com/personal/tracy_gatto_nbed_nb_ca/_layouts/15/Doc.aspx?sourcedoc={3709CAF8-2952-4930-9152-FF6C27AEF64B}&file=Essential Course Changes.pptx&action=edit&mobileredirect=true
Students who sign up during the September 10 to 14 period will meet with a School Counsellor on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority consideration given to Grade 12 students.
Students should continue to follow the timetable they received from their advisory teacher until they have met with their School Counsellor, as this ensures staff know where to locate them during the school day.
Please be aware that it may take several days, and in some cases up to a week, for students to meet with their School Counsellor. We appreciate your patience.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to support students during the start of the school year.
